A glamourous Addams is posing in an elaborate gown accessorised with large earrings that glint in the flash of the camera. The photo is signed in pen which is fading but has left an imprint on the image. Always, Dawn Addams.  Dawn Addams (1930-1985) was an English actor whose work in Hollywood coincided with the early years of the Cork festival. Born Victoria Dawn Addams in England she spent her early life in Calcutta, India, after her Cork-born mother, Ethel Mary (née Hickie) passed away when she was a child. Her beauty and talent brought her to the attention of the Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer studios to whom she signed a seven-year contract in 1950. For the next two decades she worked incessantly in film and television including the MGM films Singin' in the Rain (Stanley Donen, Gene Kelly 1952), and the then-controversial The Moon is Blue (1953) which was directed by Otto Preminger. Preminger also came to the festival and there is an image of them posing together in the archive. Title A name given to the resource Signed photo of Garth Watkins Subject The topic of the resource Cork Film Festival, Garth Watkins, Ann Michelle, Vicki Michelle Description An account of the resource This is a black and white signed publicity photo of the English actor Garth Watkins (1922-1980). Watkins, in a suit, is shown sitting with papers in hand, turned towards the camera. His work includes Special Branch (1969-1974), Twins of Evil (John Hough, 1971) and The Madness (James Jones, 1976). Around the time of this image he had starred in Virgin Witch (Ray Austin, 1971) starring Ann Michelle and Vicki Michelle both of whom came to the festival in the early 1970s. While filmed in 1970 and copyrighted in 1971 Virgin Witch was not seen until 1972 for censorship reasons. The photo is signed and dedicated to the former festival director Dermot Breen: To Dermot with best wishes, Garth Watkins, July 1972.
