It is a detail from his painting Metropolis. The picture, which wraps around the spine of the programme, shows a cinema scene with the heads of the audience looking up towards a large screen that fills the page. The lush interior of the Savoy cinema in Cork is referenced by the golden sheen of the bannister and the rich red-gold colours of the furnishings. A figure is standing up – facing towards us – lighting a cigarette. The screen image fills the page – it depicts a female figure lying prostrate, eyes shut, and wired up to a technology that we are not familiar with. We recognise the scene from the 1927 science-fiction drama Metropolis directed by Fritz Lang. The back cover is a dark grey colour. There is limited text and at the centre of the page, there is a logo for the Cork Film Festival. A male figure, outlined in white, and reminiscent of the Russian workers' art movement style, appears to be running whilst holding up a large red flag in his left hand.
