The 1990 festival poster is of a gritty realist scene comprising a large silver film reel against a concrete distressed-coloured grey/blue-black background. To the left of the film reel is a smaller spray-painted image of a man carrying a flag, depicted in the Russian workers' style. There are two white borders on the upper and lower edges of the poster on which the festival notes are printed.

The 1992 festival poster is a photographic montage of a gritty realist scene comprising a large silver film reel in the upper right corner against a concrete distressed-coloured grey/blue-black background tinted with reddish tones. The lower half of the poster depicts a scene strewn with film-like debris including torn cinema tickets, watch parts, teeth, foil sweet-wrappers, cogs & wheels, a champagne bottle cork, a radiator key, a bracelet with bright beads as well as pictures of cinema actors including Sharon Stone and Sylvester Stallone. To the left of the film reel is a smaller spray-painted image of a man carrying a flag, depicted in the Russian workers' style. The Festival heading appears to be spray-painted in white to the left of the poster while the remaining notes are printed at the footer in gold on a black border.

An account of the resource
The 1993 Cork Film Festival poster is a stylised graphic geographical representation of Cork City, and its environs, extending to County Cork and demarcated by the shoreline and coastline inlets. The map represents Cork and environs in variations of orange/pink-flecked tones and the sea is represented in turquoise blue circular swirl-like patterns repeating around the coastline. Cork is represented as the focal point off-centre and a ring of concentric circles emanate from the city with a ‘film ribbon’ of numbers from ‘31 – ‘38 reflecting the number of years that the festival is running (this is the 38th edition of the Cork Film Festival).
The contributors are listed at the bottom of the poster and the Murphy’s Irish Stout logo is positioned bottom right.

The 1994 festival Poster, designed by the Cork artist Kieran O'Connor, is a fantastical cartoon-like representation of a scene being filmed around a reconstructed version of the Shandon Bells & Tower of St Anne's Church in Shandon, Cork. The sky is burnt orange and the ground is chequered with blue and yellow squares. The film scene references King Kong who stands aloft the steeple, right arm outstretched in which he is holding a graphic representation of a man carrying a ‘flag’ of negative film. To the upper left of the poster is an image of cinema rigging holding cinema lights and a WWI-type fighter plane that is flying close to the Steeple. The scene is being ‘filmed’ by a crew below the Steeple comprising five characters; we also note a discarded clapper board on the floor.
In the background, Cork City is represented in relief, as if at dusk, with the lights of the buildings shining through the blue-tinted landscape. The skyline includes the Church of the Ascension in Gurranebraher, which was commissioned by Bishop Lucey to meet the needs of the growing population in the suburbs. To its right, we can make out the inverted triangular shape of the Knocknaheeny Water Tower.

The 1995 festival poster is a highly stylised graphic representation of cubic high-rise buildings against a luminescent blue-flecked background. The windows from the buildings seem to reflect neon-green light and light appears to emanate from the rear images to the forefront of the picture. At the centre of the picture is the projected form of a man running with a flag, in the style of Russian workers art; the flag taking the shape of film negative behind him as he runs.
The ‘40th Cork Film Festival’ heading is dominant and cinematic. Festival notes are to the right of the image and the Murphy’s Stout logo (principal sponsor) is lower right.

The 1996 festival poster is a graphic image of two heads - one male and one female - depicted in cartoon-style 2D representation on a green and blue background. The characters are facing each other but looking upwards to the blue sky with their mouths open. Blue light is projected from their gaping mouths to the sky and intersects at the centre of the picture. At the end of the projections are similarly two heads looking upwards – one to the sun and the other to the moon. ‘Murphy’s 41st Cork Film Festival’ heads the poster in two different fonts.

An account of the resource
The 1997 festival poster is a hyper realised image of a large butterfly, with red and yellow wings, at the centre of the poster. White spots edge the wings and black lines are traced through the wingspan. Two white lights are projected onto the butterfly from opposite sides of the poster and intersect at the centre where the butterfly is located. The background is grey and the butterfly is a solitary object on the poster.
Festival notes are located in the lower quarter of the poster and the festival sponsors are limited to a black strip at the footer. The poster is in relatively good condition with minor wear and tear along the upper edge where it was folded.

The 1998 festival poster is a painterly representation of a large yellow face, slightly smiling - we can only see the edge of the mouth - looking out at the viewer from the right edge of the poster. Half the face is shown with the focus on the right eye which is painted in sky-blue with faint white shadows as if a cloud floats in the background. The pupil is represented by a daisy flower, yellow centred with white petals. To the left of the face, on a blackened background, festival notes are detailed in black.
Two bands of white frame the upper and lower sections of the poster onto which the festival details are noted. The poster is damaged by damp and slight ‘folding’ has occurred. There is water/damp damage around the lower edges.

The 2009 festival poster is a painterly image, by the Swiss artist Georges Schwizgebel, of two creatures looking at each other in a glade or garden setting. The doe and the dog are facing off tentatively. The shadow of a tree falls over them. The upper quarter of the poster is black against which festival information is printed.

An account of the resource
The 2010 festival poster is a stylised graphic design of three large male heads, against a white background strewn with random shapes in various colours and size. The three faces are gazing up towards the upper right of the poster. It appears that a bright yellow light is projecting from them on the far right towards the upper-right edge of the poster and the three faces gaze out towards this light as if towards a cinema screen.
The writing on this poster is all in the lower quarter of the poster against a black banner below the Corona gold font logo. The funder's logos are placed at the footer in a white banner.
