Sweeney (1909-1991) was an RTÉ radio broadcaster and producer; the RTÉ archives notes that he started work with RTÉ in the 1950s and was a producer on RTÉ Radio's Sunday Miscellany for many years. He is shown in this photo wearing a dark suit and holding a microphone close up towards Addams, who is caught in mid-conversation with him. Addams is wearing a light-coloured dress tied at the waist and is shown resting her right elbow on the table next to her, which also holds the recording equipment. In her left hand she holds a cigarette and wears a small watch at her wrist. Addams had an illustrious and somewhat controversial relationship with the film festival. Due in part she admitted years later to the advice of her publicist advising her to court publicity. In particular her request, during the 1957 film festival, for a milk bath at the at the Cork Metropole Hotel caused much commotion in the press; it was shot down by the manager of the hotel, Douglas Vance, because "the people of Cork are finding it hard to make ends meet." The delegates are not identified but we recognise the English actor Linda Hayden standing at the foot of the Aer Lingus stairway with Breen. Nearby two members of the British Airways cabin crew stand close by – they are wearing a uniform designed by Sir Hardy Amies (1909-2003), official dressmaker to the Queen. This particular uniform was introduced in 1972 and replaced in 1977 which helps us date this picture, dated 1970s, further. The English actor David Hemmings stands at the bottom left of the photo with his arm around an unidentified delegate. Behind him, in a light coloured dress, his then partner Prudence de Casembroot, is seen looking off into the distance. Both Linda Hayden and David Hemmings were stars of British cinema during the 1970s. Above them on the stairway, a contingent of festival delegates, a few of whom are wearing festival ribbons on their lapel, pose for the camera. The airport is not identified but we suggest the background might be of the pier building at Dublin Airport. Fraser, wearing a light-coloured evening coat with fur-trimmed lapels,  smiles broadly at the camera while pointing to the view over Trafalgar Square and beyond. Born Elizabeth Winch (1930-2018), and known professionally as Liz Fraser, she was well-known for her comedy film roles and extensive television appearances. Fraser worked with Peter Sellers in a number of films including The Smallest Show on Earth (Basil Dearden, 1957), I’m All Right Jack (John Boulting, 1959), and Two-Way Stretch (Robert Day, 1960). However she will be remembered for her typecast appearances, as a blonde bombshell, in the Carry On series of films including Carry On Regardless (Gerald Thomas, 1961), Carry On Cabby (Gerald Thomas, 1963) and Carry On Behind (Gerald Thomas, 1975) which was made around the time this picture was taken. Fraser also appeared in films by the Irish director Norman Cohen including Dad’s Army (1971) and Confessions of a Driving Instructor (1976) starring Lynda Bellingham who also came to the festival. Fraser worked up until her death in 2018, age 88, in a year that saw her appear in the latest series of Midsomer Murders (2018) as well as an appearance at the Museum of Comedy in conversation with the British comedy historian Robert Ross. Kotthaus has a filmography of small parts in a series of movies through the fifties and sixties. They are formally dressed and might be arriving at a screening. The flash of the camera lights up the detail of the light-coloured dress as the two guests linger in the foyer and smile for the camera. Behind them, we can just about make out the floral arrangements and the detail of the railings that decorated the foyer of the Savoy Cinema in Cork.
