The convivial group might be seated at a table in the Oyster Tavern on Market Lane in Cork. James Mason (1909-1984) appears a couple of times in the archive. Around the time of this picture, Mason was making the war film The Blue Max (John Guillermin, 1966) which was shot at Ardmore Studios and filmed in various locations around Ireland. The film was about a German fighter pilot on the Western Front during World War I. Some of the scenes were shot at the Carrickabrack Viaduct in Fermoy, Co. Cork where George Peppard as Leutnant Stachel and James Mason, as Generalleutnant Von Klugermann, flew several times under the spectacular railway bridge which spans the River Blackwater.
