Koval, in the middle with a bow-tie and glass in hand, appears to be in mid-conversation, as his colleagues look towards the camera. The photo was taken at the Martini Terrace in London at a reception hosted by the London Friends of Cork. The terrace is located on the top floor of the 18-storey New Zealand House at the corner of Haymarket and Pall Mall. Behind our guests in this picture we can just make out the potential panoramic view over Trafalgar Square and beyond.<br /><br />Koval was a journalist and respected film critic who had a positive impact on the public representation of the Cork Film Festival during the 1960s. He attended international film festivals, including Cannes, Berlin, Locarno, and Cork, and wrote festival reviews for publications from Germany, France, Switzerland and America. Koval always presented Cork in a most congenial fashion and was an important friend of the festival until his death in 1970.
