A partially dressed Peters is shown standing whilst looking over her left shoulder towards the camera. The photo is signed and dedicated to the former festival director Dermot Breen: To Dermot, Best Wishes, Luan Peters xx. Peters (1946-2017), born Carol Ann Hirsch, and also known as Karol Keyes, was known for her television appearances and the Hammer Horror films Lust for a Vampire (Jimmy Sangster, 1971) starring Suzanna Leigh, and Twins of Evil (John Hough, 1971) with Peter Cushing and Mary Collinson. Both Suzanna Leigh and Peter Cushing also came to Cork in the 1970s. The picture shows the seated actor, in a velvet smoking jacket holding his pince-nez glasses to his mouth, while a tabby cat peaks out from under his left arm. Cushing has signed the photo to the festival founder Dermot Breen with the message: Dermot, May God's blessing be with you always. In all sincerity, P Cushing. 1972. The photo is a stock image from the 1971 British horror film I, Monster (Stephen Weeks) which was an adaptation of Robert Louis Stevenson’s 1886 novella Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde. I, Monster was released a year before Peter Cushing came to Cork in 1972. The convivial group are not identified but we recognise some from the archive. On the right, wearing a dark suit accessorised with a large cross on a chain, the English actor Sinéad Cusack is turned towards the German actor Ferdy Mayne, in a houndstooth check suit and matching trilby. Festival committee member, Dick Beamish, in dark-rimmed glasses, stands front and centre. On the far left we recognise the English actor Peter Cushing (1913-1994) who was best known for his roles as Baron Frankenstein and Doctor Van Helsing in the Hammer Productions horror films. Cushing also appeared as Tarkin, in Star Wars (1977) written and directed by George Lucas. Around the time of this picture, dated 1972, Cushing had appeared in a number of horror films including Fear in the Night (Jimmy Sangster, 1972) starring Joan Collins and Judy Geeson who also came to the Cork festival.
