Description
This is a black and white photo of Roy Gunson, Margaret Savage, and the vice-chairman of the festival committee, Richard (Dick) Beamish, taken at a reception held at the Martini Terrace, New Zealand House, in London. On the far left the bespectacled Roy Gunson is posing towards the camera with his right hand raised holding a glass.
Gunson worked as a dance director and choreographer with the popular The Black and White Minstrel Show which ran on BBC television in the UK from 1958 to 1978. Margaret Savage, wearing a flamboyant patterned dress accessorised with a scarf tied at her neck, stands in the middle of the group. She was a singer who also worked on The Black and White Minstrel Show with Gunson.
On the far right, Dick Beamish, wearing his distinctive dark-framed glasses, is smiling directly at the camera. They are attending a reception, held at the Martini Terrace in London, where details of the 20th Cork Film International Festival were announced. The Martini Terrace is an iconic landmark that sits on the top floor of the 18-storey New Zealand House located at the corner of Haymarket and the Pall Mall in London.
