Description

This is a black and white photo of festival delegates dated 1970. The photo identifies Gunther Polzelmeir from the Irish Tourist Board in Germany with his wife, festival director Dermot Breen, EF O’Mahony, German actor Kai Fischer, Lord Mayor Peter Barry, and Eugen Vetter from the German Cultural Institute, Dublin. The formally dressed group pose in front of a billboard-sized poster advertising the festival.

The Czech-born German actor Kai Fischer was born in 1934. Her filmography includes Too Hot to Handle (Terence Young, 1960) with Jayne Mansfield and Christopher Lee, Bullets Don’t Argue (aka Le pistole non discutono) (Mario Caiano, 1964) and The Goalkeeper’s Fear of the Penalty directed by Wim Wenders (1972), based on the book by Peter Handke. She is accompanied in this photo by Eugen Vetter from the German Cultural Institute in Dublin. In 1965 Vetter founded the Goethe-Institut Choir in Dublin which still performs in Ireland today.
