Dublin-born Eamon Morrissey (1943-) is a stage and television actor. He left school early and went to London where he acted in Brian Friel’s Philadelphia, Here I Come! in the 1964 world première. Morrissey is known for his comic roles and won an Irish television Jacob’s Award in 1977 for his performances in Frank Hall’s long-running satirical TV series, Hall’s Pictorial Weekly starring Frank Duggan and Michael Twomey. Twomey also came to the Cork Film Festival on a number of occasions in the seventies. Morrissey has appeared in Father Ted and the RTÉ soap opera Fair City. His work in Fair City was recognised by the annual Irish Film and Television Awards (IFTA) who nominated him for Best Supporting Actor in 2011. Morrissey’s film credits include the Irish comedy film Eat the Peach (Peter Ormond, 1986) starring Stephen Brennan and Niall Tóibín, who was also a visitor to the festival.
