Description
This is a black and white contact sheet of six strips with images of varying quality. The sheet, annotated with a red marker, shows various award presentations, recipients, and awards. We recognise Lord Mayor Sean O’Leary (1941-2006) which helps us date this image to 1972 or 1973.
We kept some examples of these contact sheets in the archive to show how photographers used positive prints from the negatives on a roll of film. This enabled the photographer to scan a series of thumbnail images to find the ‘keepers’ or the ones chosen to be enlarged. Sometimes the outtakes tell a story as much as the final chosen image.
