Description
This is a black and white photo of the French film actor Barbara Laage (1920-1988) accepting a drink from a man identified as John Neary at the back of the photo. Laage is seated and smiling up at Neary as she takes her glass from him. She is wearing a light-coloured dress accessorised with a wide strap braclet, while Neary is in a dark suit and tie with a pin attached to the left lapel. Laage was a popular leading lady in French film during the 1950s. Notably, the Rita Hayworth role in The Lady from Shanghai (Orson Welles, 1947) was originally written for Barbara Laage.
