This is a black and white photo of a press conference taken during the late 1970s. The press corps is seated in front of the main desk where the film festival director, Dermot Breen, sits at the microphone taking questions from them. An audience is gathered around at the back of the room listening to the proceedings and some are taking notes.

The photo is dated ‘guess 1960s’ but we can see a poster for the 1977 American mystery film The Late Show (Robert Benton, 1977) taped to the wall of the press room next to a chalk-marked blackboard. This allows us to date the press conference to 1977 (or later). The Late Show was directed by Robert Benton and produced by the award-winning Robert Altman and starred Art Carney and Lily Tomlin whose names feature on the poster.
