The photo is signed in blue pen with a dedication to the former festival director Dermot Breen: To Dermot, with warm regards from June Thorburn.
Born in Karachi, British India, Thorburn was a popular English actor whose work included The Pickwick Papers (Noel Langley, 1952), Orders are Orders (David Paltenghi, 1954) and Touch and Go (Michael Truman, 1956). She attended a garden party given by President John F Kennedy and Ireland’s president, de Valera, during Kennedy’s visit to Ireland in July 1963. Thorburn died in an air crash, age 36, in 1967.
