This is a black and white publicity photo of the English actor Lynda Bellingham attributed to PR services, Dublin. Bellingham, wearing a light-coloured dress, is shown glancing upwards and smiling as she eats from a napkin-covered dish.

Lynda Bellingham (1948-2014) was an English actor, broadcaster and author who was a familiar presence on British television, in particular for her work as lunchtime chat show host on Loose Women between 2007 and 2011 with whom she made more than 300 appearances. She also had a long-standing television career including parts in All Creatures Great and Small and Doctor Who as well as film credits that include Confessions of a Driving Instructor (Clare Brough, 1976) and Stand Up, Virgin Soldiers (1977) directed by the Irish director Norman Cohen. Bellingham will be best remembered for her commercial role as the ‘Oxo mum’ in the long-running series of TV ads selling Oxo gravy, between 1983 to 1999. She also worked in theatre and had a successful run with the touring production of Calendar Girls between 2008 and 2012.

Bellingham was married three times and during the 1970s, when she came to Cork, she was married to the film and theatre producer Greg Smith. Smith also came to Cork, and worked with Norman Cohen on the Confessions series of movies.
