This is a black and white photo of Miss Movie Girl 1973, Betty Philbin, at a drinks reception with festival attendees identified on the photo as Phil O’Donovan, Ian Barry and Aileen Brennan. The small group, all holding glasses, pose for the camera in a wallpaper decorated room where other guests mill around in the background. Twenty-year old Philbin, wearing a dark jacket over a light-coloured dress tied at the neck with a ribbon, was Ireland’s 'Movie Girl' in 1973, a title she won at the Cork Film Festival where she was chosen originally from photographs published in the Sunday World newspaper in association with the festival.
