This is a black and white photo of festival attendees taken during the 1956 film festival. The group are dressed in formal evening wear, with the men wearing dark evening suits and Moira Lister wearing an off-the-shoulder long dark-coloured gown. Three of the men on the right of the photo hold a cigarette in their right hand and all are animated in mid-conversation. Dated 1956, the back of the photo identifies the group as the screenwriter Viscount George de La Grandière, Chris Curran, Moira Lister, Richard Beamish, Dermot Breen, and Commander Tom McKenna.

Moira Lister (1923-2007) was a South African-born British film, stage and television actor and writer. She has an extensive filmography and was awarded the Naledi Award in South Africa for her services to the theatre.
