The back of the photo identifies the actor and filmmaker John Boorman, the former film censor Sheamus Smith, the artist Frank Sanquest and William (Bill) Harpur from RTÉ.
Smith, in a light-coloured suit wearing his distinctive glasses, sits at the far left hands clasped in front of him. The filmmaker John Boorman sits beside him. Boorman, wearing a favoured cheque jacket with an open-neck shirt, is glancing down at the table in front of him which is scattered with papers and some drinking glasses. The Cork-born artist Frank Sanquest, in light coloured jacket, sits between Boorman and Harpur. Sanquest worked as the Arts Editor for the Cork Examiner from 1940-1987 and was a familiar presence at the festival. The photo is marked ‘1970s’ but we might suggest it is 1974 since Boorman came to Cork that year for the 19th film festival. He continues to show his films at the festival and his feature Queen and Country had its Irish première in 2014, at the 59th edition of the Cork festival.
