Title

Cork International Film Festival programme cover from 1989

Subject

Cork Film Festival 1989

Description

The 1989 festival programme cover is a graphic image of a laughing turquoise blue-faced man against a bright pink-red background. He has bright yellow hair and lips and is wearing a winged-green hat and a green short-sleeved shirt decorated with small black images of film cameras. The left arm of the man is raised aloft carrying a bouquet of ‘flowers’ made from film negative strips of varying colours mixed through with flower-like motifs. The back of the programme is an advertisement by festival sponsors Murphy’s for Murphy’s Irish Stout. It shows a harmonica player in a black cap up close to a microphone. The image of a full pint of black stout with its cream-topped head accompanies the advertisement text: It’s a Different Story.

The 1989 programme is a soft card-bound programme measuring 29.5 x 20.5cm. The bind is stapled and it has 64 numbered pages.
