Description
This is a black and white photo of the French film actor Barbara Laage standing with a group of men, some identified at the back of the photo as Gus Healy, Jan Neary (Unifrance), and Colonel Hallnan. Laage, holding a bouquet of flowers in her arms, is looking towards Gus Healy who is standing on the far left facing her. Gus (Augustine) Healy was an Irish Fianna Fáil politician who would later serve Cork as Lord Mayor from 1964 to 1965 and 1975 to 1976.
Barbara Laage (1920-1988) was a popular leading lady in French films during the 1950s. Seemingly the Rita Hayworth role in The Lady from Shanghai (Orson Welles, 1947) was originally written for her.
