Description

This a black and white photo of the Irish actor Sinéad Cusack sitting on a black and white horse in an unidentified location. She is sitting side-saddle, holding onto the reins of the horse, and smiling at the camera. Her short dress is accessorised with an elaborate brass necklace and knee-high suede boots and her long fair hair tumbles around her shoulders.

Dublin-born Sinéad Cusack was born in 1948 and is the daughter of the actor Maureen Cusack and the actor Cyril Cusack. She is married to the actor Jeremy Irons and is the mother of three sons including the Irish politician Richard Boyd Barrett. Cusack is an award-winning actor and most recently she was the winner of the Irish Times Theatre Award for Best Actress for Our Few and Evil Days in 2015. Her film work includes Hoffman (Alvin Rakoff, 1970) with Peter Sellers, Stealing Beauty (Bernardo Bertolucci, 1996) with Jeremy Irons, and John Boorman’s Queen and Country (2014) which had its première at the Cannes Film Festival that year. The film Hoffman was released around the time of this photograph, which is dated 1971, and makes Cusack maybe 23 years old in this picture.
