Description

The original 1959 Tóstal-Festival of Cork souvenir programme is a soft card-bound issue measuring 17cm x 24.5cm. The bind is stapled and it has 60 numbered pages.

The pdf contains a number of images and advertisements, as well as articles about Cork including The Festival of Cork by Commandant Rory Frewen (pp.29-37); A Changing Landscape by TF McNamara (pp.39-50); Ireland’s First Oil Refinery by Stephen Coughlan (pp.51-52); and International Film Festival of Cork by Sean Hendrick – the President of the Irish Film Society (pp.57-60). Film festival press notes, at the rear of the programme, include images of festival attendees Vittorio De Sica, Lea Massari, Fiorella Mari, George Zervos, Jack Lynch, Sean MacCarthy, Vasgen Badal, and Frances Flaherty – the wife of Robert Flaherty. As well as programme listings the brochure includes a number of advertisements from local and national companies across all sectors of the business world.
